Student Gets Punched During Lecture

A report on an incident not published in the school's newspapers, Nanyang Chronicle and NTU Tribune.

A most unusual incident occured during last Tuesday's Computing lecture at LT1A. The lecture started on time at 1230pm and everything seemed to be going on as usual. The China students sitting infront were paying attention to the Lecturer with a HongKong accent... The rest of the Sporean students were either falling asleep, while some brave ones tried to stay awake to figure out how to use the Numeric Array Function in C programming. It seemed like a typical engineering lecture where the lecturer with bad articulation and pronounciation rattled on while students started falling asleep in the lecture theatre.

At around 1250pm while the lecture was underway, a male student jumped onto his chair and shouted these words to a another male student who was sitting directly behind him "Zuo ren bu yao tai xia lan!" What followed was the student grabbing the t-shirt of the same student and dealing a punch to his face. The student who was punched did not retaliate but took off his spectacles which had been severly damaged when the punch was inflicted. Coincidentally, the lecturer did not notice the incident and carried on as usual. The male victim who was obviously distraught by then remained in his seat while his friend who was siting beside him sympathetically offered him a packet of tissue for his bleeding nose which bled for the rest of the lecture. The student attacker and his victim remained in his seat for the rest of the lecture and acted as if nothing had happened.

While the identity of the attacker is not known, it is said that his victim is a resident of NTU's Hall of Residence 2 and a year 1 student from the College of Engineering.

Some observations

Recently, Ntu had its open house... There were some posters around but none of them caught my eye except this one...

For those coming to study engineering, I think that this poster does not really paint an accurate description about Ntu... I've been here for nearly one year and this perspective is solely based on my experience...

This would be a more accurate description of Ntu. Ni Xiang xing wo ma?
Anyway i was looking around the school handbook for prospective students and then I saw some familiar faces...

Mr J L Koay a.k.a the actor... Long time no see... Everyone's favourite dive buddy back in Ndu...
So, exams are around the corner, mugging begins again??? That also means i have to start choosing which engineering to go into... Many people say Electrical and Electronics Engineering is very tough cause there are alot of brilliant foreigners there and the course work is hell... Seems like all the odds are against my choice...

Flipping through the handbook, I decided to try to find a reason to convince myself that i have not made a wrong choice...
Hmmm... Is that girl really from EEE?

Am I seeing things?

Thursday night after supper, sitting on my fren's pickup truck as he fetched us back to Ntu, I saw a girl from SA, from the same year, probably from S1 something, driving a 7 series back to hall... Guess which car reached Ntu first...

Enjoyed Your Stay Sir?

1 month more before the semester ends and exams start again... Time really flies... This would be probably be my last semester in hall and i will be moving home soon because i got only like 30+ points... Anyway, it was a most pleasant and fun experience... In fact it was a near perfect experience...
Some pictures of my life in hall 2 :

Good room, fairly spacious and new, Good roomie Eugene who does alot of area cleaning like sweep, sweep again, mop the floor, wash the toilet and more... So unlike me, who changes my bedsheet once in 3 months... Good location, 5 min from school, provision shop and canteen. Best room, except for our guests; the ants crawling around the table...

Some pple from hall have said i'm kiasu when it comes to taking food especially during buffets... Well, I do not deny that...
photo taken at hall supper with my neighbours from EEE.Engineers are cool pple.

My orientation group at the hall dnd. Nice pple, all very friendly... But i still hate doing the cheers and all...

Food trip at geylang...Si zi lu kou style...
Good company + Good food = Fun.
As we walked through Lorong 8, the pimps standing outside the prostitude houses said these words to the girls in our group :"Xiao mei mei... Hui jia la.. Ze li bu shi ni men lai de di fang..." Felt that was very funny... Another thing that i noticed is that all the prostitude houses there had gods inside, those kind of altars with a chinese god on them... Wonder why they have them... anyone knows? Is that suppose to be the god of fertility or something?
After that as walked down to near the petrol station, we saw a group of Ah Na(Kek-Leng-Kia) fighting behind some shophouses, a truly entertaining sight especially in boring Spore.... One Ah Na slapped the other Ah Na and then he proceeded to grab a glass cup and smash it on the other guy's face...

My only cca ... hall 2 jam. Lead singer from Taiwan, lead guitarist from Sichuan China, Keyboardist from JB... so they say NTU is a truly global university...
